Major AAA title games launched with serious problems that took months to years to resolve. It was a bleak time for the game, but patches kept coming in hopes to fix the bleeding pig. It was definitely a good experience, getting to relive the Reach story, and it was sort of like a comparison to my past skill level. I can’t quite say this is the one I’ve been waiting for —that’s Halo 3—but Halo 2 joined the Master Chief Collection on PC Tuesday night, and it’s an ideal place to start really devoting time to Halo’s online multiplayer. It’s still fun, but not a game I’d dump hours of time into. Halo 2, even after 15 years, feels just deep enough. It’s still the kind of multiplayer game that can demands precision aiming, tight teamwork, and intricate map knowledge to master.
This is the moment on PC many Halo fans have been waiting for and after a few hours of testing I can say that if you plan to jump in now, be prepared to run into some bugs. As I wrote in my feature on Industries’ journey to bring the Halo series back to PC , there are some significant features still absent from the Master Chief Collection. Alternate keybinds are coming in a future update, and the developers are continuing to work on issues around screen tearing, which I ran into while testing Halo 2’s campaign.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection on PC is currently being readied to receive Halo 3 , finally bringing the highly acclaimed shooter to the platform. However, that’s not all PC players are receiving, with Industries detailing on its latest development update blog that quite a few fixes and new features are incoming to the package. There is good news for Halo: Reach fans, as it seems audio issues that have been plaguing the PC port, such as the muffled and static sounds, are finally getting fixed.
Halo: The Master Chief Collection is a compilation of first-person shooter video games in the Halo series , originally released in November for the Xbox One , and later on Microsoft Windows through and The collection was developed by Industries in partnership with other studios and was published by Xbox Game Studios. Each game in the Master Chief Collection received a graphical upgrade, with Halo 2 receiving a complete high-definition redesign of its audio and cutscenes that is exclusive to the collection.
The game includes access to the live-action series Halo: Nightfall as well as the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta that was available for a limited time.
